In April 11th, 2005 ILSI Argentina celebrated its 15 th Anniversary. There were 170 invited people. Gubernamental authoroties, academia and industry representatives participated of the meeting.
Since its founding in 1990, ILSI Argentina has worked with scientists from academia, industry, and government in sponsoring conferences, seminars, and other educational activities focused on nutrition, food safety, food biotechnology, toxicology, food law, physical activity and environmental health. Many of the branch's activities relate to public health and safety issues within several South American countries. ILSI Argentina also represents Paraguay and Uruguay
Recent ILSI Argentina conferences, workshops and meetings have addressed scientific issues concerning PCBs in Buenos Aires Province, Detection Methodologies for GMOs in Grains and Foods, Improving fats for healthier products, Pre-hyspanic American Foods, Obesity and Physical activity, Composition and Nutritional aspects of argentine Tea, Mycotoxins in Wheat, Food Allergens and Food Packaging.
Since 2003, ILSI Argentina is colaborating with ARGENBIO (Argentine Council for Biotehnology Information and Development) giving informative talks in different provinces all around the country.
Since 2003, ILSI Argentina has also been invited to participate in the Annual Conferences about Food - Nutrition and Health organized by the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health.
In April 2004, ILSI Argentina launched its first Special Report Series entitled “Soy and Nutrition” (see Publications)
In October 7th-8th/2004, ILSI IFBiC and ILSI Argentina organized the “Workshop on Nutritional and Safety Assessment of Foods and Feeds Nutritionally Improved through Biotechnology” in Buenos Aires city.
ILSI Argentina is currently working on the compilation of local compositional data for food crops such as maize, “yerba mate”, tea and wheat.
In October 27th/2005, ILSI Argentina and ILSI North America Project Committee on Hydration are organizing a Conference about Hydration co-organized in Buenos Aires city
