Water Quality in Latin America: Balancing the Microbial and Chemical Risks in Drinking Water Disinfection

1996

Gunther Craun, editor

ISBN: 0-944398-48-0

This book, available in both English and Spanish, examines many of the issues explored in the 1993 ILSI Press publication Safety of Water Disinfection: Balancing Chemical and Microbial Risks, but focuses on Latin America. The Pan American Health Organization worked closely with ILSI Argentina to assemble a panel of experts in 1994 who debated how best to balance the microbial and chemical risks of drinking water disinfection technologies used in the region. Chapters explore epidemiological studies, the status of drinking water disinfection in Latin America and the Caribbean, pathogens in water supplies, disinfection by-products, and other topics.
